Jonathan Hudson reporting for the Researcher
The SAT is the other standardized test that colleges look at. The SAT has changed since I took it but when I did take it, the hardest part for me was endurance because of the duration of the test, and the way it went back and forth from English to Math.
The new SAT is different. The current SAT test will be administered until January of 2016. The NEW SAT will start being administered in March of 2016. The scoring ranges and sections on the SAT are different:
Even though the new SAT is longer and has more content, the changes are made to improve the test and help it reflect what students have learned in high school, as well as reach further and show what they will need to learn in college. As far as test prep goes, I would encourage taking a weekend to take a practice test. I encourage buying the SAT prep book.
Overall, the ACT and SAT are both important tests, but it’s important to understand that one test is no better than the other. It really is all about personal preference. If you do well on the tests, great job! If not, don’t worry. These tests only play part of the admissions process and you can always super score with both tests. Just remember: study hard, get a good night’s sleep, eat a good breakfast, and go and conquer the test!
Use the PDF viewer below to look through sample SAT questions from a year ago. It may be outdated, and we may be getting a new SAT in a few months, but they are solid questions that will give you a general idea of the test.
