Standing in its place today is the beautiful World Trade Center complex, crowned by one of the safest skyscrapers in the world, One World Trade Center, standing 1776 feet high. It's height references the signing of the Declaration of Independence, a nod to America's staunch values of freedom, liberty, and justice. It symbolizes America's resolve to rebuild upon the memory of those who had perished and establish it as a monument to those who had lost their lives on that day.
As a country, this event was a test of our unity, courage, and sanctity, and as we look toward a brighter American future, and no matter where you stand racially, politically, or religiously, remember that we are all Americans, united under one flag. Let us never lose sight of those great men and women who perished on this date, 2001.
